The first locomotive arrived by ship at Guaymas in 1880, and the first railroad line connected Guaymas to the capital city of Hermosillo. The railroad line from Navojoa to Álamos wasn’t completed until 1908, and passenger service was discontinued in the 1930s. Nothing remains today of the railroad or the station.
