March, 2019 - The 9th annual Álamos Film Festival will present 12 feature films and 23 short films from March 14 - 17 at various locations in Álamos. “El Último Traje” from Argentine director Pablo Solarz (2018) and the Oscar-winning “Roma” (2019) by Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón are two of the featured presentations.

April, 2019 - the children of Álamos concluded a week of special activities with children by flying kites they had colored and created from the Mirador. Activities to celebrate children included children's sports, afternoon movies, and lottery games,

May, 2019 - After eight years of struggle, the indigenous Guajijío community has been granted an injunction against the construction of the “Los Pilares” dam. The Guarijíos cited environmental damage as well as the relocation of 450 families if the current plans for “la presa” move forward.

March, 2019 - While those living in the “pueblo mágico” of Álamos enjoy a good life, the majority of those in the Álamos municipality do not benefit from this magic: they live in the poor rural areas which lack adequate water and health resources, and where adequate nutrition is not guaranteed.

May, 2019 - John Clark, who came in the 1890s from Cornwall, England, died trying to rescue his fellow miners during a Quintera Mine explosion and fire in 1902. His remains are in the Álamos panteón, and in May Mayor Victor Balderrama paid tribute to this heroism when he unveiled a bust in Clark’s honor.

August, 2019 - From August 15-18 Álamos Will celebrate its heritage with art, music, and drama performed at many places around the city. The festival will close with a photo exhibit on the history of Álamos in the museum.
